If I had an ultra small iPod that only held a few songs, I would definitely save room for Jan Garbarek. It was when I first moved into my house that I started listening to his music. Spending hours painting with his piercing sax in the background was the perfect accompanyment to the start of a new journey. Granted, it does tend to be meloncholoy at times. But it's perfect for contemplating. Those foggy or rainy days and solo moments.Sunday, August 23, 2009

A Favorite Artist

Welcome! This blog will be a random collection of favorite sightings.
What comes to mind first, is one of my favorite artists, Mark Ryden.

I love the subject matter, the style and the detail. Mysterious, surreal, haunting.
Probably the first time I saw his work was in SFMOMA, but I can't be sure. Then I picked up a collector's book at the Cartoon Art Museum. After 2 more books, I realized that I was a fan. Whenever I need a boost of creativity motivation, I pick one up for another viewing.
